Floor Surface Risk Assessment for Safety Statements

The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 (Section 8) requires employers to ensure the design, provision and maintenance of a safe workplace with safe access and egress.

Under Section 19 of the 2005 Act, employers are required to carry out risk assessments and to record these in the Company Safety Statement.

From 2010 to 2015, Health & Safety Authority workplace inspections found no Slips, Trips & Fall (STF) risk assessments in more than 2,000 premises.

The maximum penalty for breaches of the regulations is €3,000,000 and/or imprisonment for a term of up to two years.
